This is a reproduction steering column tube. This is the outer cover tube for the worm gear or steering shaft. This has the machined inner ring for the upper bearing to pop in to. It also has the slot in the bottom for slipping over the upper bearing retainer on the steering box. This is exactly 34 1/2″ long. It is designed for the 49-71 jeeps. Note: We have trimmed these down before to make them fit the 41-48 jeeps we have built. If you plan to shorten this, make sure it is done from the bottom. Make sure to cut another notch so the lower end will fit over the bearing retainer. This has no cut out for the early horn brush.
