This is a new very high quality and heavy built speedometer cable. This is correct for the M38, M38A1 and M170. (G740, G758) This has the correct flagged end on the inner cable on the transfer case end. Be careful of what other sellers are saying their cables fit. The flagged end was used only on the solid axle M-series Military jeeps ( jeeps produced for the military in the 50’s and 60’s with solid axles and leaf springs). The way to tell if you have a M-series transfer case is to look directly into the speedometer outlet connection on the rear housing of the transfer case. You will see the speedometer outlet gear and it will have a noticeable slot in it. This is where the flagged end of the cable fits. The outer casing is very thick and heavy like the original but not quite as bulky and limber. It will not dry rot and fall apart like the originals did.
