This is a very high quality and US Made spare tire guard bracket. This was used on the 1950-52 M38 Military jeeps. This fit over the right hand side main top bow bracket. The M38 only had one of these used on it. If the spare tire was relocated to the side of the jeep to use the tailgate; this bracket kept the thumb screw from pushing into the tire. This is very unique to the M38 Military jeep.
